Volvo Key Fob Troubleshooting
Volvo drivers are enthralled by the remote control capabilities of their key fob. By using a smartphone application, they can lock and unlock the car and start the engine and even locate it.
Place the key fob’s face up on a clean surface. Find the button to release it. Put a coin between the fob cover and the fob, and gently pull it up.
Locking the Doors
Volvo’s remote key fobs will unlock the tailgate, doors, and the fuel filler flap of your vehicle with a press of one button. Remote key fobs can also turn on the ignition, and also activate the alarm. They can also operate the sunroof, provided it’s equipped. Hold your key fob with volvo car key logo in the front to press the manual lock/unlock. Find the black button at the edge of your key fob, and gently press it. This will open a cover that protects the key blade that is manual. The cover can be flipped counterclockwise using a flathead or coin.
The Engine is Ready to Start

You can enable this feature with the key fob if your car has a dealer installed Engine Remote Start. The vehicle will be able to cool or heat at the same temperature it was set to while it was parked. It will last for up to 15 mins.
Remove the cover on the back of the key fob with your fingernail. Under the cover, on a diagonal near the body’s edge, you will find an unidentified button. Slide it down and then to the right. The cover will come loose, and then slide off revealing the manual blade! If you are still unable to locate the button, search the newly revealed manual key access to determine if there is a hidden slot or lever.
Closing the Windows
One of the nefarious features on Volvo key fobs is the ability to close all windows in a matter of seconds when you use the fobs. This is a fantastic feature to have when trying to squeeze into a cramped parking spot, or even simply when you want to get some fresh air in the cabin while driving.
To do this do this, press and hold down the unlock button on your Volvo remote for four seconds. This will lower all of the windows, and also the sunroof in case your car has one. After that, once you’re done with your car you can shut everything by pressing the lock button for four seconds.
You can also set off the panic alarm in your car with the key fob. This will make an alarm that is loud enough to attract attention and deter thieves. It also helps you get home safely even if you’ve been out for the night. This feature is helpful should you live in a neighborhood that is prone to crime or want to secure your family while they are away.
Opening the Tailgate
Volvo has loaded its key fob with a lot of handy features. These are perfect for when you’re working on shopping or helping your kids load up their sports equipment after practice.
If you own the Hands-Free Liftgate with Logo Projection and Programmable Height (if equipped) You can open it by using the key fob. Press the button to open it, and then press the same button to close it when you’re done.
When you’re ready to start your car, use the key fob to press the START button (and don’t worry about the battery dying or your car not starting since it has a backup key mechanical slot too). This is among the many tips that will benefit your new volvo key Volvo.

Turning off the Alarm
Modern key fobs are more practical than a mechanical car key. They don’t always work perfectly and batteries may die. If you’re in a hurry, or aren’t keen on going to an establishment to have your key fob reset, you can get it to work at home.
Choose a clean, flat surface and lay out your key fob, battery and any other keys. Place the key fob in a place with the Volvo logo facing up and then locate a tiny black button at the left side of the fob. Slide it to the right. The cover will begin to loosen and fall off leaving the key’s mechanical blade underneath it.
Press the button for unlocking the key fob two times quickly, and you will be able to unlock all the doors as well as the tailgate. By pressing the lock button for 2 seconds, you can also close the sunroof and windows if they are equipped. Reconnect the battery and the alarm will stop. If it doesn’t, then the owner’s manual should have a way to reset the alarm.
